Myoskeletal Alignment Therapy
Thomasina's clinical massage therapy is based on an assessment of posture, gait and how the joints of the body are moving. Her holistic approach puzzles together how an imbalance at the foot, for example, might be causing pain in the hip, shoulders or neck. Thomasina has completed thousands of hours in training, earning dozens of certifications and a Master Myoskeletal Alignment diploma, which has provided her with a solid background in the understanding of body mechanics. She also uses a pain-science approach to help clients understand and recognize the underlying biology, psychology and social aspects that can be influencing their nervous system to produce pain outputs. You will not feel like you came to have your sore spots rubbed. You will gain a better understanding of the science behind pain, you will receive the proper bodywork to start bringing your body back into balance and you will be given homework so that you are empowered to continue your path to healing. It is not Thomasina's goal to see you over and over again in continual attempts to "fix" you. The goal is to determine the root of the issue as quickly as possible and to facilitate you in taking control of your pain. Please note that relaxation or regular massages are not available. Repeat appointments are booked if indicated by the treatment plan.
Below are some of the modalities in which Thomasina is certified. You do not have to choose one type of massage per treatment. Relevant techniques from the various modalities will be applied for a more well-rounded outcome. Check the "About" link for Thomasina's full bio.

Myoskeletal Alignment Technique
Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques (MAT®) is a unique hands-on bodywork system designed to restore function, relieve pain, rebalance, and re-educate the body. The source of chronic pain for many arises from very common imbalances and dysfunctional patterns in the musculoskeletal system. The MAT system brings together the most advanced therapeutic strategies to relieve, and ultimately correct, patterns in the body that lead to pain and deterioration. Thomasina has achieved a Masters diploma in this, the only massage program in the States at this level. She is also a teaching assistant for MAT workshops.
Scar Tissue Therapy
MPS (Microcurrent Point Stimulation) is a method used to release scars and is especially effective in treating large, deep, painful scars. The term ‘release’ refers to the releasing or relaxing of contracted and tightened tissue. Coupled with manual release work (a specialized type of massage), MPS Scar/Adhesion Release Therapy significantly reduces the restrictions of scar tissue.
Craniosacral Therapy is becoming a treatment of choice in areas of pain, rehabilitation and neurology. It is a gentle, non-invasive, hands-on technique, developed almost one hundred years ago. Craniosacral therapists are able to detect disturbances in the skull and body’s rhythm that help them identify areas of dysfunction, and then they are able to correct those imbalances.
TMJ & Intra-Oral
By treating muscles both outside the mouth and inside using a gloved hand, several jaw-related symptoms can be diminished or eliminated. Some symptoms TMJ massage can help are: teeth clenching and grinding, jaw pain, jaw clicking, swallowing issues, wobbly jaw, ear ringing, ear pain, headaches, the ability to open the mouth wide and more. Before treating TMJ, the body is looked at as a whole to determine if the dysfunction is being caused by somewhere else.
Same-day cancellations will be charged 50% of the price of the treatment.
If enough notice is given and the time slot can be filled, no charge will be made.
