Pain Can Change
Healing begins with understanding
Welcome
Healing happens when we reconnect with the wisdom of the body and mind.
I'm Thomasina — a massage therapist, somatic practitioner, and counselor-in-training.
For over 14 years, I've been supporting individuals on their journeys toward relief, resilience, and reconnection.
My Journey
My path into healing work began after a debilitating back injury led me to leave a career in journalism.
Facing the prospect of long-term morphine use and back surgery, I chose a different way forward — committing to a dedicated yoga practice that transformed both my mind and body.
Inspired by the profound changes I experienced, I became a certified yoga teacher, teaching movement and breathwork as pathways to reconnect with the body’s innate healing potential.
Two years later, I expanded my ability to support others by becoming a registered massage therapist.
Over time, working closely with individuals living with persistent and complex pain conditions, I became deeply curious about the neuroscience of pain and the mind-body connection.
This led me to pursue graduate studies in pain, psychology, and neuroscience. Today, I continue my journey as a counselor-in-training, specializing in chronic pain and mind-body healing.
My Approach
Healing is not just physical — it is emotional, neurological, and relational.
I believe that true healing happens when we meet the body with respect, the mind with understanding, and the person as a whole — not as a set of symptoms.
My work is guided by three core principles:
-
Compassion: Every healing journey is unique. I meet each client with care, curiosity, and deep respect for their lived experience.
-
Collaboration: You are the expert on your body. I see my role as walking alongside you — offering support, education, and tools to help you reconnect with your own healing potential.
-
Evidence-Informed Practice: My approach integrates current research on chronic pain, neuroplasticity, somatic awareness, and mind-body healing in ways that are accessible, practical, and empowering.
Even in the face of persistent pain, change is possible.
Through touch, movement, education, and mindful connection, we can help retrain the nervous system, restore safety in the body, and open new pathways for healing.
